They Wait Below

They Wait Below is an atmospheric, 2D adventure game where you dive into the mysterious depths to collect treasure, upgrade your gear, fend off fearsome enemies, and uncover disturbing mysteries.

As a diver in the early 20th century, you have suffered numerous setbacks and financial disasters. With almost nothing left to you name, except your boat, diving gear, and faithful dog Ms Pembrose, you set out for one last, desperate venture in the cold Atlantic waters. You have heard rumors of an untouched ship graveyard just off the coast of Sable Island, near Nova Scotia, teeming with treasure; it is unknown why the locals are so fearful of this place, but you have nothing left to lose. Steeling your courage. you prepare for the most important dive of your life.

You begin the game on your boat, with minimal gear, and not a penny to your name. With each dive, you attempt to collect treasure and artifacts from the shipwrecks below, while keeping an eye on your oxygen meter and depth gauge. If you dive below certain points, you will have to decompress for short bursts before ascending, all while fending off hostile sea-life, and other strange creatures.

If you return safely to your ship, you can sell whatever goods you collected, and use the funds to upgrade your gear (larger oxygen tank, diving weights, ballast tank, and more). The deeper you go, the more you risk, the better treasure you'll find. 

Treasure isn't the only discovery you will find in these waters. The shipwrecks offer clues to their destruction, the fates of their crew, and what else might be waiting for you in the lonely depths.
